Perfect Match is one of the biggest matchmaking websites around, with millions of members. It uses your personal information (such as your preferences, outlooks in life and general personality traits) to help determine which members might be suitable for you.

Much of the leg work is based on the research of Dr Pepper Schwarz, who has apparently worked for over 30 years in the fields of human relationships. Her research combines with the site’s online personality profiling, based on Myers-Briggs tests, to determine your key personality traits (such as whether you’re introverted or extroverted, a risk taker or risk averse, and so on). Once this is done it checks which members share compatible traits, and recommends them

You can visit a member’s profile, where you can view and compare their information with yours. For example, it will show you their level of education, religious beliefs, lifestyle choices and outlooks, alongside their Duet Similarity Factors. If you like the look of someone, you click “yes”, if not you click “no”, or you can simply skip a member and return to them later. By filtering through members in this way you are helping PerfectMatch.com to help identify the sort of person you’re looking for.

Completing the full Duet test can take a lot of time (hours, if you think through each question carefully), but the outcome is a more accurate match. Of course, couples aren’t just successful because of certain traits, and you can still perform basic searches or browse through profiles to see if anyone strikes your fancy. 

If you’re not sure what to say, or want to test the waters, you can send an ice breaker message. This is an automated message which just lets someone know you’re interested in them. If you receive plenty of replies, then you may wish to pay for membership. 

The longer membership contracts on Perfect Match offer far better value for money than the shorter contracts, but it’s a big commitment so we recommend trying the site out as a free member for at least a short time to discern whether or not it will do everything you hope for. 

Whilst the site once offered video options, these are either now very well hidden or have been removed. This is unfortunate as it added another dimension to meeting and flirting with members. You can send emails, but that’s really the extent of the communication tools on offer.

Perfect Match is a pretty popular site, and it’s not hard to use. However, unless you have plenty of time to fill out the questionnaires, and you don’t mind a lack of communication features, there are probably better sites around. It might come down to who you find on this site though, and whether or not you strike up a conversation.
