If you’ve any experience of online dating, or have even turned on the TV in the last few years, you’ve probably heard of Match.com. Now, their sister site, MatchAffinity.com, allows you to find a date or potential partner with an in depth personality quiz, which then selects other members who are compatible with you. 

Essentially this site is designed to take away the work of finding dates. Once you sign up, you are led through a detailed series of multiple choice questions. You go through these, picking your answers, and then the system builds a profile of the sort of person you are and the kind of person you would get along well with. It then uses this information to search its database of members, and recommends people who will suit you.

Since the site is brought to us by Match.com we are confident that the service will be professional. What’s more, it should also bring dating success along with it. These sites have a history of creating successful relationships, which you can read about in the “Success Stories” section of MatchAffinity.com.

We had a little trouble with our registration. After filling in our basic details and going through the somewhat-lengthy process of completing the questionnaire, we tried uploading a photo. This was necessary in order to complete registration. However the photo wouldn’t upload. We tried another and had the same problem, eventually deciding to refresh the page. Mistake. This took us back to the homepage, and when we used our log-in details we realised the process hadn’t been completed and we had to enter all the information again. The second time around, things worked out, but this was an inconvenience.

Unlike some matching websites, Match Affinity didn’t ask obscure questions about our finger length or eye color. Rather, it asked about how we like to spend our time, the sorts of people we like and so on. This makes sense to us, as those things have a genuine impact on how you engage with somebody.

Once this is completed, the website then allows you to explore your matches or perform a search for yourself. This is a little different from some matching sites, which sometimes don’t allow you to perform your own searches. You can find out about your potential matches by looking through their photos and at the information they provide, and the site also offers a percentage match to help you to easily see how you might be compatible. Performing a search is a little against the key selling point of a matchmaking website: the work should be done for you. However, it’s nice to have a backup if you want to explore other members who don’t necessarily match your personality in every way.

Prices are high for 1 month memberships, but drop significantly on longer contracts. We’d recommend exploring the site first, though, to get a sense of whether or not you feel it will benefit you in your search for a date. 

As mentioned, this site is most suited to people who wish to have the work taken out of finding dates online. However, it still has a few options to help you perform searches if you wish to expand your boundaries. Its communication tools are simple but effective, and the amount of information required can seem daunting but it also provides a strong basis on which to base its romantic matches. The site has no joining options for the US, for some reason, so it's perhaps not the best site for people looking for dates in the states.
